The
Day's Schedule
This year the students will receive their
schedules at 8:10 a.m. and they will be divided into two groups.
One group of students will stay at Fergus
High School and listen to our main speaker, Joey Jurenka
of Helena, who will share his experiences in starting up his company
constructing homes in the Helena area. Following
Mr. Jurenka's message they will
then attend two of their chosen career exploratories.
The second group of students will travel
to downtown Lewistown where they will split into groups of
8-10 and visit
businesses in their respective career interest divisions. The businesses
will select spokespersons to describe their duties to the students and give
them tours of the businesses for approximately 40 minutes.
After lunch, the groups will switch
agendas and continue until the fair ends at 3:20 p.m.

High School and eight other Central Montana high schools are working
together to provide your students with an ideal opportunity to make
life-changing decisions this spring during the biannual Central Montana
Career Fair, slated for April
8th, 2008. This could be the
single most important day of their high school career because it will help
them make a decision that may affect the next 50 years of their lives.
During the
career fair students will participate in job experience discoveries at school
and will be invited to visit Lewistown businesses and observe professionals
at work while they learn about different careers and different job
opportunities. The work site visits will allow students to see the physical
set-up, learn how the job is done, and see the people in the profession in
action.
Students
will fill
out registration forms where they chose their top three choices of seven
career clusters. The clusters are: Art & Communication, Business &
Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineering & Technology, Health Services,
Scientific, Natural Resources & Agriculture, Social & Human Services
and the Military.
Students have also prioritized their favorite exploratories off of a list of
38 different career activities. The exploratories consist of hands on work
at the high school and several other area locations. In previous years,
students have had hands on exploratory experiences including: making
holograms; dissecting pig hearts with a veterinarian; experimenting with
night vision goggles; made caps for teeth in dentistry; and learned how to
work with sports injuries in sports medicine. Typical exploratory activities
include brief host talks to the students and then the student will complete
the project.
